MUMBAI: Actor-comedian Jaaved Jaffrey has proven his comical skills in films like Salaam Namaste, Dhamaal, Singh Is Kinng and Double Dhamaal. Now, he is all set to share the screen with heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor in his upcoming film Besharam. He is impressed with the young actor’s dedication and choice of different roles.
“I have liked him [Ranbir] as an actor ever since he started his career. He works really hard and tries to do new characters,” Jaffrey said in an interview.
Born in a family of well established actors, Ranbir made his debut in 2007 with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movie Saawariya and then proved his mettle with a string of movies.
Within five years of being active in filmdom, the 30-year-old star has cemented a secure spot in Bollywood with films such as Wake Up Sid, Raajneeti, Rockstar, Barfi! and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.
Jaffrey finds it commendable. “He [Ranbir] has moved away from the typical ‘hero’ characters in our films and has tried to do something really different — be it Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year or Wake Up Sid,” Jaffrey said. “I like him a lot.”
Jaaved further said that Ranbir is a “focused and thinking actor” who can mould himself in different roles perfectly.
Besharam is a comedy film which is directed by Abhinav Kashyap, who is known for entertaining the audience with his Salman Khan starrer blockbuster Dabangg. Besharam features Ranbir’s parents — veteran actors Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh — along with Pallavi Sharda, who made her debut in Bollywood as a supporting actor in Karan Johar’s acclaimed movie My Name is Khan.
Besharam is scheduled to release on October 2 this year.
