Ranbir Kapoor is charming and successful, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that girls drool over him and the press is obsessed with what he’s upto. Be it his professional or personal life, Ranbir seems to almost always make headlines. And despite being one of Bollywood’s most eligible bachelors, the 30-year-old doesn’t intend on settling for an arranged marriage.

“Today’s new generation takes its own decisions; I don’t think I will go for an arranged marriage,” he said in an interview  to IANS. “Personally, love is very important to me. There are lots of ordinary things in life, so love should be extraordinary and I hope I achieve that.” So when does Ranbir plan on getting married? “I believe in the institution of marriage but one can’t fix a time for it,” he said. “So, please don’t predict it for me.”

Everyone has heard rumours about the star dating Katrina Kaif, but Ranbir has neither accepted nor denied the relationship. “I am single till I get married,” he said. “If I am in a relationship and I talk about it and then it doesn’t work out, then that puts a lot of pressure on the girl and her reputation. And our society judges girls a lot.”

“I have realised that, as much as I can, I should hide my personal life and not make it a reality show,” he added. “But, of course, if I get married, I will not hide it.”

Was he upset when his beach pictures with Katrina were leaked? “I don’t get upset about anything. I am an actor and today, everyone is a photographer as everyone has a camera,” he explained. “People want to know about you. When I was a child, I wanted to know everything about my favourite actor, too.”

“Yes [sometimes], I feel bad when everybody is talking about my personal life, but it’s a part of my work. I am an actor, so I am public property. I don’t own myself, the public owns me,” he said.

When the Times of India asked Ranbir what he had to say about the letter Kat wrote to the media after the incident, he said, “When it is a personal moment, you feel violated. I wish that it had not happened, but we can’t escape the scrutiny today.” He feels his personal space is being encroached upon. “It was said that I was getting engaged on my birthday. And I was shooting in Sri Lanka when the report came and I wondered what my parents would think about that,” he said.
