PUNE: Indian actor Sanjay Dutt, who was convicted under the Arms Act for illegal possession of an AK-56 rifle before the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts, got a boost on Friday after limited parole was approved, reported Times of India.

Dutt had returned to the Yerawada central prison in Pune on October 30 after spending nearly a month at home.

He was granted 30-day parole on account of his wife Manyata’s illness.

Mumbai police and the state prisons department had recommended the parole.

“Dutt has been asked to furnish a surety and report to the Khar police station in Mumbai twice a week,” Times of India says.

“Dutt was released from the prison for 14 days on October 1. This was later extended by two weeks on medical grounds. The actor spent time at home with his family and later took medical treatment. He returned to the prison on October 30.”
