With notable similarities that go beyond just their looks, twenty-year old Alia Bhatt frequently finds herself compared with the illustrious Kareena Kapoor-Khan. Both hail from eminent showbiz families, and have successful family members in Bollywood. They are also considered on-trend celebrities, having an innate sense of fashion and similar expressions and body language.
Having to hear constant comparisons, one may think that thirty-three year old Kareena might be feeling insecure, but when asked if she was keeping tabs on the rapidly rising starlet, Kareena said, “No, I’m not keeping track. As of now, I’m just keeping track of what I’m doing, where I’m going or what Saif is doing. I can’t be keeping track of what everyone else is doing,” reports the Hindustan Times.
The actor appeared on an episode of Koffee with Karan, where the relentless host questioned her along the same lines. The Gori Tere Pyar Mein actor claims to neither view Alia nor other younger actors as competition, and she considers the influx of new actors as a circle of life. “It’s inevitable; you should just do good work and stand for what you believe in,” said Kareena.
Kareena allegedly watches very few Hindi movies, saying, “I don’t see many Hindi movies, but now, Saif and I will watch more of Bollywood films, just to know what’s happening and to see what kind of films are being made and not for any other reason.” With no timeline attached to the said ‘now’, it is possible that Mrs Khan’s film viewership may have declined with the appearance of younger and newer stars.
Be as it may, Bollywood is abuzz with rumours that deem Alia Bhatt as the next Kareena Kapoor, and whether Kareena cares or not, it seems like Bebo finally has some serious competition!
