Maheen Khan’s Gulabo has gone global, virtually atleast. The website www.gulabo.pk was launched on the second day of FPW6, and ‘in all the excitement’ she forgot to mention that to the press.
While talking about it, Khan said, “An E-store was has been in the pipeline for quite some time at Gulabo.”
Khan says, “Gulabo, initially when I started, was a little bit of indulgence of what I love best. I love Pakistan and I love truck art, but later it became a serious affair.” Khan asserts, “In 2008, it was my humble, simple truck art inspiration from the city of Karachi, that launched this branded line. But with time I believe every brand should evolve.”
Furthering her statement, she says, “The way it is positioned, it has a lot of interest for the global Pakistani diaspora, as they can take a little bit of Pakistan back with them.” Getting all the more response from her Facebook fan page, she says “Our Facebook page has a lot of fan following, forcing us to open the e-store. The average Pakistani woman is even experimenting with online shopping.” The brand’s Facebook page was launched two years ago.
“Things happen when they are supposed to,” Khan chuckles.
