Actor Juhi Chawla has reigned over many hearts since she stepped foot in Bollywood. From her dynamic performance in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, to her bubby character in Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Juhi has been a total knockout.
With her girl-next-door looks and soul-stirring smile, she is known as one of the most pleasant actors in the Bollywood household.
In a casual conversation, the 46-year-old spoke about her Gulaab Gang co-star Madhuri Dixit, equation with Shahrukh Khan and all that jazz, reports bollywood.com.
On the question of the status of her rumour-ridden relationship with Madhuri, Juhi said, “I think the industry is so competitive today, and it’s always like Katrina vs Deepika or Priyanka. Of course, some amount of competition is always there between contemporaries, but personally, we have never wanted ill for each other.”
She said that it is only now that the two actors have met properly and it has been a “pleasant experience.” “She’s the hero of the film and I, being the villain, had to take the leap saying, ‘Yes. We’re going to make this rock!”
Contrary to the roles that Juhi has usually portrayed, she will be seen in an antagonistic role in the much-awaited Gulaab Gang.
“I really hope I pull it off. In fact, I didn’t agree to do this role in a day. When Soumik [Sen] offered me the role, I was like, ‘Why do I even have to think about taking this up?’ I mean, I didn’t need to stick my neck out to be visible. Then, after much coaxing and discussion, I told him to soften the script and he did, but then I realised that the character was losing its edginess. So, we went back to the old script and I finally won over my insecurities and took up the role.”
The actor shared that she enjoyed played the role. “You see, I am the villain in this movie, so I don’t have to do much. Mads [Madhuri] does most of it (giggles).”
She also commented on her relationship with actor and business partner Shahrukh, which has often been referred to as rocky. “When you know people for long, you are not laughing all the time with them. You go through various emotions, different situations, good and bad… so yes, differences happen, but then you don’t linger upon bad times. You brush them aside. So, it’s the same with us and these days, people read too much into everything. You sneeze, and it’s everywhere!”
