The much-anticipated Bollywood flick Gulaab Gang has finally opened in Pakistan after stirring controversy back in India.
The film has not only garnered attention for having some bold dialogues, but also because it stars two of Bollywood’s most talented and gorgeous leading ladies, Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla together for the first time, in their respective careers.
The film revolves around a gang of women that don pink saris and fight against social injustice, operating in Bundelkhand area of Uttar and Madhya Pradesh.
It is reportedly based on the life of Sampat Pal, the founder of the real-life ‘Gulabi Gang’, which was a group of pink sari clad women fighting for justice.
The lead character Rajjo (Madhuri Dixit) is a reformist, who establishes an ashram that serves all without any religious, ethnic or racial barriers.
Later on, Sumitra Devi (Juhi Chawla) joins the narrative as an antagonist and together, they weave a narrative that offers a lot for cinemagoers to look forward to.
Juhi is admiring all the criticism that she has been receiving for the film and has been quite vocal about it on Twitter.
“I am loving the hate. For the first time, I’m actually glad you could hate me,” Juhi posted on her Twitter page.
“Thank you very very much… I’m amazed and grateful for the overwhelming response to the movie Gulaab Gang. Thank you all.”
