We’re over the idea that one has to be selective in their colour choices this spring. With a myriad of stunning hues all around us, why must we hold ourselves back and stick to colours that fall in our comfort zone? Psst.
Out with colour policing! Release your inhibitions and add colour to your fashion picks. We encourage you to not shy away from bold colours and share with you a few tricks (compiled from popxo.com) that will help you incorporate into and sustain vibrance in your closet.
Be colour smart
If you’re iffy about a colour or think it doesn’t complement your skin tone, you don’t entirely need to remove it from your wardrobe. You can simply wear a pair of coloured skinny jeans, pants or a shalwar. Wearing colour away from your face is a smart way of incorporating it into your look.
Also, if you don’t like a particular colour, you can always soften it up by wrapping a favourite scarf or shawl in a different hue around your neck, so that it doesn’t come in direct contact with your face. You can also colour contrast with a blazer or a statement necklace to jazz up your look.
Pattern it up
Patterns never go out of style and can tone down the brightest of colours. Almost anyone can pull off a patterned ensemble. Aztec prints, which are a favourite these days, can look trendy with unconventional colours, whether you include them on a top or pants.
Shoes in bright hues
Vibrant shoes can enhance and add oomph to monotone outfits. Neon colours, which are not everyone’s cup of tea, can look stunning if sported in the form of platform heels or pumps or even flats.
Accessorise, accessorise, accessorise!
The most unflattering of colours can look fabulous if you accessorise with them intelligently. A vibrant belt, chunky necklace, tote bag or clutch can give a funky twist to your look.
Say no to black!
This summer, shoo away black from your fashion choices and be willing to challenge yourself. Experiment with your style and broaden your colour horizons. For starters, avoid wearing black for a week. You will start feeling more comfortable with bright hues and will gradually find yourself accepting a vibrant wardrobe. This will help you explore your stylistic preferences.
