It’s saddening that the days of developing and hanging up photographs are long gone. With social media at the forefront, pictures have gone from frames to Facebook, indoors to Instagram. Here are a few ways you can display your pictures to be seen in real life, not just online, according to Pinterest.
Go monochrome
There is something undeniably striking about black and white photos. It could be a longing for a past long gone, or even just an aesthetically pleasing effect. A grouping of framed, monochrome photos will not only add life to a plain wall, you can also put age-old pictures of family members without them looking out of place.
Collage
Head over to your local printer for photographs, and trawl through markets for unique frames and baubles. Perfection should be thrown out the window with this endeavour — mix it up! Photographs or quotes or pictures from magazines, put up whatever you like. The frames should be as different as possible, and mirrors are an added bonus. Let your creativity flow through.
Hang ‘em up
A great option for those who aren’t big fans of drilling multiple holes in their walls. All you need is some fishing line, clothespins and of course, photographs. You can hang the line vertically or horizontally, and have the pictures as close together or as far apart as your heart wishes.
Spice up your staircase
The staircase is often overlooked, yet it is the most used area of a house. People pass by the walls on a daily basis, but never really stop, so why not give them a reason to? Pull out those ancient photo albums, and open those folders on your computer to create a gallery of photographs, old and new, to display on your staircase.
Vertical appeal
This is the best way to display individual photos of family members. It also looks like a strip from a photo booth, which is all the more endearing. For something like this, it’s best to conduct a professional shoot, as these are pictures you will cherish in the long run.
Real-life Instagram
Those beautifully enhanced Instagram shots need to come out of your phone! Don’t have them enlarged, simply have them printed and fitted into small frames. Arrange them in a grid formation on your walls and you’ll have your entire Instagram feed looking back at you without the incessant comments or likes.
Clipboard convenience
Another option for those who don’t want nails all over their walls! Clipboards are another easy option to display pictures. For one, you can group them however you like, and of course there is the added convenience of being able to swap out photographs as you please. But why limit it to only photographs? Clip on your children’s art work, an inspirational quote or even a magazine photo.
