Amid the hustle and bustle of everyday life, we often don’t take the time to attend to our skin and the damage caused to it due to make-up usage and air pollutants. Actor Demi Moore, who has glowing skin even at the age of 51, feels that if you focus on good skincare, you really won’t need a lot of make-up. And we couldn’t agree more.

Perfect skin can be achieved simply by incorporating certain foods into your diet. Observing moderation in consuming them is, of course, a must. For soft, smooth and healthy skin, try the following five foods, as reported by the Times of India.

Bell peppers

They are versatile and low on calories. You can grill, stir fry or eat them raw. According to joybeaur.com, they are good sources of Vitamin C and Beta-carotene, which nourish your skin and keep its youthful appearance intact. Juicy, hot and sweet, these vegetables should be a must item in your food plan.

Dark chocolate

Good news for chocoholics! This yummy food item increases blood circulation in the body, thus leading to healthy and picture-perfect skin. It’s full of antioxidants that detoxify your body and alleviate acne.

Green tea

Out with carbonated beverages and in with green tea! Available in multiple flavours, this is a fat free and healthy drink to include in your diet. It detoxifies and cleanses your body from the inside, the effects of which are evident on the outside in the form of spot-free skin.

Seeds

They are crunchy and fun to eat. The essential oils present in sunflower, chia, flax, pumpkin and other kinds of seeds keep moisture levels in check and enhance the amount of Vitamin E in the body. They are also rich in protein.

Papaya

This fruit is low on calories, delicious and makes a great face pack. It is an excellent skin purifier. Papaya is also beneficial for women suffering from ovarian problems. Its Vitamin C and Beta-carotene content reduce inflammation as well.
