As the seasons come to an end, panicked fans troll the Internet for news about their beloved shows. Has it been renewed? Canceled? When will it be back? ABC began handing out renewal notices on Thursday, formally picking up rookie series Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Resurrection and The Goldbergs as well as established hits Once Upon a Time, Castle, Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy. Modern Family has also been renewed for a sixth season, surprising no one, reported E! Online.
Scandal, Once Upon a Time and Revenge are heading into their fourth seasons and Castle for its seventh season. Grey’s Anatomy, however, will kick off its 11th season without a few of its major players.
According to latest reports, Grey’s Anatomy will return without original cast member Sandra Oh (Christina Yang), who is leaving after 10 seasons, and Gaius Charles (Shane Ross)and Tessa Ferrer (Leah Murphy) are set to exit at the end of the season.
Of course, Grey’s pickup isn’t too surprising, given that Ellen Pompeo (Meredith Grey), Patrick Dempsey (Derek Shepherd), Justin Chambers (Alex Karev), Sara Ramirez (Callie Torres), Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey) and James Pickens Jr (Richard Webber) also signed new deals, ensuring they will be on the medical drama through Seasons 11 and 12.
Grey’s isn’t the only Shonda Rhimes drama returning without an original cast member, as Columbus Short (Harrison Wright) announced his exit from Scandal following his recent legal troubles.
