JLo, Pitbull’s performance leaves fans complaining

Let’s Get Loud, sang Jennifer Lopez in 2003, but her performance with rapper Pitbull at the opening ceremony of the 2014 Fifa World Cup was certainly not ‘loud’ enough for the television audience.

While the live audience at Sao Paulo’s Corinthians Arena enjoyed the performance of official Fifa song We Are One (Ole Ola), television viewers were unable to bask in its glory due to poor sound quality, reported the Telegraph.

The experience of viewing the much-awaited event at home was impeded by “appalling” sound quality, which made the On The Floor singers’ voices sound faint and “tinny.” Hundreds of people took to social media websites to complain about the sound glitch.

According to a source at ITV, which broadcast the ceremony in Britain, “the sound problem that regrettably caused some disruption to viewers was caused by a technical issue with the host broadcaster, which provides the coverage of all the action at this year’s World Cup.”

This was a real downer as it happened amid questions about Brazil’s football pitch quality and the ongoing anti-World Cup protests in Sao Paulo. One of the viewers tweeted, “This performance is an absolute mess.” Another said, “I have been to school plays more professional than this.”

In celebration of diversity, JLo and Pitbull were joined by a Brazilian pop star for their performance in the second half of the ceremony. Let’s hope the World Cup frenzy remains intact despite these amateur bloopers.
