MUMBAI: Actor Kareena Kapoor Khan, who was last seen in the box-office dud Gori Tere Pyaar Mein (2013), has become meticulous in her film choices. The Bollywood bombshell said that in the past, she has done multiple films for the sake of friendship, but now, will only do a film with a “good story.”
“I have done a lot of films for friends. Now I want to do films for story. I don’t regret it [having done films for friends] and for me, it’s never a mistake. I am like that — I always think from the heart, so it’s fine,” said the actor.
Kareena’s career trajectory ranges from successful stints in commercial films such as Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001) and 3 Idiots (2009), and critically-acclaimed roles in films including Chameli (2003) and Talaash (2012).
She shared that she did such varied roles to prove her mettle in the industry. “I did Chameli and Dev (2004) because I needed to balance myself. I come from a family where I needed to prove myself. I was 21 when I played a prostitute in Chameli and I played in again in Talaash. Both are great films of my career,” Kareena commented.
Now that Kareena will soon be seen in commercial film Singham Returns, would she be willing to experiment and take up an offbeat movie at this juncture in her career? “I will do that, but I won’t do it just for the sake of it, because I did Dev, Chameli and Omkara (2006) when I was the most (successful) commercial actor,” she stated.
“At this stage, I will not do a film just for the heck of it because I have done that and I am happy doing commercial films.” “I don’t have to prove anything [now]. Most importantly, the script has to be good,” added the bubbly Bebo.
