If you have grown up in the 90s, you cannot forget the soothing voice behind many Bollywood hits — Kumar Sanu. From Saanson ki Zarurat Hai Jaisay to Tum dil ki Dhadkan Mae, the singer made it to our stereos, Geetmala’s on VCR and now the classic Bollywood collection. Today, he is not only a proud singer but also a proud father, as his daughters Annabel, 10, and Shannon, 12, have made their singing debuts.
It was the emotional state of one of their friends who had recently witnessed the separation of her parents, which led the sisters to make the song, reported the Times of India. “One day, Anna came home crying from school as one of her friends was upset because of her family situation. She expressed her emotions by writing a poem and I decided to compose it. Dad heard me humming and asked me to sing it. That’s how this song came about,” said Shannon.
Sanu’s career saw a lull for a few years until he made a comeback with songs in Rowdy Rathore and Bombay Talkies. Now, he has a number of other singing ventures lined up.
