The ‘tiger ride’ comes to a roaring end. Journalist Jemima Khan and comedian Russell Brand, who were seeing each other for the past year, have reportedly parted ways. What seemed to be an unlikely match between the elegant heiress and an unkempt Russell, the two were often seen at society events during their time together, reported the Daily Mail. “The relationship had simply run its course,” said a source.
There was even talk of a wedding prior to their split, but sources close to Jemima’s family confirmed that she is single once more. Neither side was keen to speak about the breakup, but friends claimed Jemima was the driving force behind the couple’s final split last month. Interestingly, they have also ‘unfollowed’ each other on Twitter, IANS reported.
This could suggest a sense of bitterness between the two, as Jemima has maintained cordial relations with her exes including former beau, actor Hugh Grant and ex-husband, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan. Before Jemima, Russell was married to pop star Katy Perry and has been romantically involved with supermodel Kate Moss and former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell.
During their time together, Jemima, 40, and Brand, 39, regularly appeared at society events in between tête-à-têtes at London’s best restaurants, and went for walks with Jemima’s beloved white Alsatian named Brian. Russell was a regular visitor at Jemima’s Oxfordshire mansion, which she shares with her two sons from her marriage to Imran.
Although Russell has been notorious for his romantic indiscretions, he clarified the status of his then ongoing relationship with Jemima during his appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show. “I really love her,” he said. “I’m very, very happy in a relationship that feels different from anything I’ve experienced before. I feel like it’s grounded in friendship and a sort of love,” he added, reported the Irish Independent.
