Actor Deepika Padukone is looking forward to her upcoming film Happy New Year, in which she plays a passionate dancer Mohini Joshi. Despite her unique character in the musical heist film, Pudokone stands tall against those comparing her role to Mahduri Dixit’s portrayal of Mohini in Tezaab (1998). “Madhuri Dixit’s character is an iconic one. There is no similarity between the two except the name. So, please don’t compare my character with Maduri’s brilliant portrayal of Mohini. Both the characters are very much different to each other,” she said during the promotion of the film, reported Bollywood.com.
In the film, Padukone will be heard speaking bi-lingual dialogues with a fascinating mix of Marathi and Hindi. “Having lived in Mumbai for seven years, it gave me the opportunity to interact with Marathi speaking people. Moreover my mother tongue is Konkani, which is very similar to Marathi so it was not a tough call for me to speak in that dialect,” she said.
Considered one of the most consistent actors, Pudokone is adamant that her new venture, Happy New Year, will also be successful like her previous films. “When so many good energies connect together, I feel something best always comes out. It’s one of the right kinds of film for Diwali as it will fill your hearts with joy,” she said.
