KARACHI:

The grand finale of Veet Miss Super Model, 2014, was a spectacle to remember with stunning supermodels, ingenious designers and multi-faceted artists enveloping the Karachi Expo Center where the event took place.

While taking the ramp, the top 12 contestants, were adorned in Sania Maskatiya’s exquisite collection. The charming, subtle tone of the digital prints matched the starry theme of the night. Pearl embellishments on the short shirts plus the black and white chrome patterned pants culminated Western silhouettes on an Eastern collection.

The judges for the model hunt commenced the show with Saba Ansari, hair and make-up artist, sharing what she believed the competition’s winner should represent. “She should definitely be confident, beautiful, have poise and certainly be talented.” Acclaimed fashion pro Hasan Shehryar Yasin (HSY) was of the opinion that, “She should brace up with three things humility, diversity and accessibility.”

Gracing the stage next were the current top models of Pakistan, including the likes of Fayeza Ansari, Hira Tareen and Rubya Chaudhry to name a few, all clad in Zaheer Abbas’s ritzy white collection. The music performers for the evening included Zoe Viccaji with Ali Azmat taking on the ramp later to perform classics like Neend Aati Nahin and Neeli Neeli Ankhon.

The top 12 contestants walked the ramp strutting this time in Umar Sayeed’s graceful collection. The black embroidery and silver handwork on the garments were a treat for the eyes. Mentors Sabina Pasha and Cybil Chowdhry were present Amna Ilyas was, however, absent.

This was followed by a question and answer session between the judges and the finalists, Humaira, Misbah and Beenish. Humaira was asked by HSY if she went out of the country, what good aspects about Pakistan would she state, to which she replied, “I’d talk about hardworking and passionate people.”

Beenish was asked what the most difficult task in this competition was, she answered, “To compete against my own self.”

Misbah was questioned about whether she’d prefer to open a show or be a show stopper, she asserted: “I would love to open the show. The first walk proves it all.”

The tie was between Beenish and Misbah. The two beauties tightly clutching each others’ hands were when the final question was asked by super-model Vaneeza Ahmed, “If you win, how will you make a difference tomorrow?”  Misbah replied confidently: “I trust my talent and it will surely get support from others.” Beenish’s words on the other hand, resounded like the classics and wowed the judges, making her take the crown home, “My win is for every girl in town who dares to have aspirations to become and achieve something.”
