With a vast variety of perfumes available today, it becomes more than hectic finding a scent that suits you. Instead of sniffing through large collections in search of the perfect one, compiled by beautyandtips.com here are 5 tips that will make the perfume you already have smell better and last longer than just having it disappear a little after an hour.
Apply after showering and before dressing up
After a steamy bath our pores are open and if you apply your perfume right after your get out of the shower, your stomas will soak up the scent better and enable the body’s natural heat to ‘activate’ the scent, making it last longer. Perfumes stain certain types of clothing when spritzed on; hence, one should avoid direct contact with clothing material.
Spray your perfume instead of rubbing it
It’s a common practice to rub our wrists after spraying perfume but it is not recommended. Rubbing perfume onto your body can ‘break down’ molecules of the fragrance, making it give off a different scent than it intended to, whilst making the scent fade away faster. Instead, just apply the scent on pulse points where you can feel the heart rate through blood vessels that are located close to the skin — on your wrists, behind your ears and behind your knees making sure not to rub.
Moisturize your skin before applying
Perfume is bound to evaporate faster when the skin is dry, try applying a fragrance-free moisturiser on your body as an excellent groundwork before applying any perfume. You can also help your incense go the distance by applying some petroleum jelly to your skin, and then applying your scent on top of that. The perfume droplets will cling to the petroleum jelly – rather than sinking into your pores – which can reduce or eliminate the need to reapply fragrance later in the day.
Spray some perfume on your hairbrush
Misting the hair with your favorite fragrance is a great way to leave a gentle scent in your mane. If you want to make your perfume last longer, spray a little bit of it on your hair brush and run it through your hair but be careful only to apply perfume to freshly-washed hair, or the natural oils (and any lingering hair products) will affect the odour. Since perfume contains alcohol and can be drying to your strands, make sure to only apply two to three sprays on to the brush.
Store your fragrances in right places
Your fragrant elixir’s worst enemies are humidity, heat and light. Make sure to store perfume bottles away from direct sunlight and keep them in cool and dry places. When purchasing make sure to buy perfumes in spray bottles since this will avoid your fragrance from evaporating and chemical reactions with the air, maintaining its original scent
