Losing weight is no rocket science. Even the fittest celebrities would agree. Day after day, they look just-what-the-doctor-ordered at red carpet events and incredibly dazzling on screen. How do they do it? Not by taking magic potions but incorporating simple eating habits to their lifestyle.
If you’re a foodie, their honest and down-to-earth healthy-eating advice is where it’s at. As compiled by Women’s Health magazine, Marie Claire, People and Shape magazine, follow on these stars footsteps and look lip-smacking like them in no time.
Fill up on nutritious foods
Ridiculously good-looking Something Borrowed star, Kate Hudson fills up on all the good stuff to look like a million bucks. The mother of two, had zero trouble losing her post-baby weight and fitting into her skinny jeans. She credits her fit physique to nutrient dense foods like “rice, beans, lentils, beautiful salads, low-mercury fish, some nuts, lots and lots of fruit, and all sorts of vegetable dishes.” To jet set your weight loss efforts, stock up your pantry with Kate’s favourite foods.
Intermission during meals
Kaley Cuoco from the award winning show The Big Bang Theory is definitely one of the fittest stars according to Women’s Health magazine. For workouts, she follows a strict yoga and pilates routine and a strategised diet trick that prevents her from over eating: “I try to eat half of my plate. If you take a break for 10 minutes and drink some water, you’re full. And if you’re still hungry, fine, keep eating. But you’re not going to be. I follow this rule every single day.”
Get your greens
Miranda Lambert has recently lost loads of weight, and she did it the healthy way. Her trick to getting fit wasn’t giving up on her much-loved cheat foods: “I like to prepare my own green juice by blending together green veggies because I don’t really like vegetables. I mean, I do…I like broccoli with cheese, and carrots with ranch dressing! It’s just how I eat, and won’t stop doing so. I’m not trying to pretend that I’m something I’m not. With the juice, I feel like I’m getting straight-up vitamins and good food. So if I don’t eat anything else green that day, I’ve got my green in”.
Don’t skip breakfast
American Idol winner and country sensation Carrie Underwood has gone from a size 6 (UK10) to a size 2 (UK6). How did she do it so quick? ‘I’ve got one rule,’ she asserts. ‘Never skip breakfast.’ Her morning munchie is usually a protein bar, boiled eggs or an omelette cooked in olive oil. Any other secrets to her weight-loss – ‘It’s not because of any radical diet. It’s the little things like cutting out chocolates, replacing sugary drinks with green tea, and white breads with whole grains.’
Hydrate
Beyoncé isn’t just fit and fabulous but her shape is enviable. And her trick is super straightforward. According to the queen of pop, drinking water is a great appetite suppressant and it helps her stay lean all year round. If it gets too boring, jazz up your water and add chicken broth or vegetable stock to it. “A cup-full of heated chicken or vegetable soup or broth is super healthy and will take your water from boring to tastebud-tingling, in only a few calories,” says the diva.
Eat clean as much as possible
Rockstar Pink is celebrated for her tight body, killer abs and super fit frame. The Get the Party Started songstress likes to keep it simple and uncomplicated. “I would like to be more disciplined than I already am, but I just really enjoy food. I have an Italian mindset when it comes to food and family and festivities. It’s like, just enjoy life. Try to eat clean as much as possible. I’d love to be 10 pounds thinner, but it’s not in the cards for me. And I’m totally okay with that. I love my strong body.”
Don’t Obsess
Actor Shailene Woodley owns a healthy pink complexion. She gives out her food balance mantra, and outlook to life. “For me, it’s about living and not obsessing. And really, looking at diet as, ‘How am I going to have the healthiest, strongest body?’ Every day, girls are like, ‘Do I look fat?’ I’m so over that question. Stop it. And don’t obsess. When you want to eat something that’s not healthy, eat it, enjoy it, and move on! That’s what I do,” exclaimed The fault in our stars beauty.
