Hit film Tanu Weds Manu was the result of Kangna Ranaut and Aanand L Rai’s first collaboration together. Now, the two geniuses have come back together to make what is being titled as a sequel to the 2011 comedy, but has no similarity to the original story, reported Bollywood.com
Ranaut will be seen playing the character of modern day Heer. The casting was a result of Ranaut’s phenomenal performance in Queen and that is why Rai has written a more challenging role for her this time around.
However, when the shooting for the project began in New Delhi, the director was surprised by the ease with each the actor executed the role. “Kangana and I love to work with each other. After Tanu Weds Manu, I wanted to challenge the actor in her, and she overcame those challenges very smoothly. So, I decided to come up with something even more challenging for her,” Rai said an interview with Bollywood.com.
Having said that, there is a fair chance that the director might give her a rather tragic avatar in the film, “Yes, that idea has always been in my mind. I have already had a tryst with a tragedy (Raanjhanaa), so I don’t mind revisiting it. But the idea will take its own time. I haven’t set a deadline for it since I can’t think of anything else except the sequel (to Tanu Weds Manu) right now,” says Aanand.
