Bollywood’s reigning stars lined up to sweat it out on the tennis court with Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Sania Mirza, at the much-awaited inaugural of the International Premier Tennis League in New Delhi, on Monday, NDTV reported.
The Indoor Gandhi Stadium was hosting a match between Federer and Djokovic, but the stadium witnessed a splash of Bollywood ahead of the game between the Indian Aces and the UAE Royals.
Bollywood’s golden girl and a renowned badminton player’s daughter, Deepika proved she could not only bring her game on screen, as seen in her latest release Happy New Year, but is also a sports enthusiast, when she tried her hand at tennis with Federer. She was joined on the court by Aamir Khan whose film PK is slated to release December 19, Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh who played an exhibition match with Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.
All-rounder Aamir Khan got the maximum time on court with the sports superstars, impressing the audience with his skills and Deepika, Akshay, tennis star Sania Mirza and Riteish Deshmukh followed later on. The stars put all their film schedules and promotions on hold to engage in the friendly match with the players, reported the Deccan Chronicle.
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan (Big B) had flown to the national capital to watch Swiss Great, Roger Federer play his first match in India. Big B was joined by Lara Dutta, actor and wife of Mahesh Bhupati, founder of IPTL and Rana Daggubati.
Even though Big B didn’t come out on the court, he tweeted away and let his fans in on the excitement: “Off to the IGStadium Delhi to watch @rogerfederer play at the @iptl unique first time in World league Tennis … LIVE …excited!”
