The year 2014 was big for beauty. We saw multihued hair colours, minimal make-up, bleached brows and bangs. As for what is to come in 2015, we’ve made some predictions after poring over and taking notes from fashion shows and celebrities on the red carpet. As compiled from Marie Claire, Elle magazine and Harper’s Bazaar, here are the trends to look out for in 2015.

Dewy skin

Matte skin is hard to maintain when the temperature soars. It can be tricky to maintain dewy skin that looks fresh and not sweaty. A staple on the spring runways, dewy skin makes you look young, fresh, and not made up. To get the look, apply a rich daytime moisturiser with SPF all over the face and gently press it into the skin with your hands.

Bright pink lips

Make-up entrepreneur
Bobbi Brown thinks pink will dominate next year’s lips. It’s true that the orangey-red that set the runways and red carpets ablaze for years seems to have shifted to the back burner. Here’s the good news: there’s a pink to flatter every skin tone. We think that a bright fuchsia lip complements the Pakistani skin tone.

The lob

The short bob and long bob (lob) have taken magazine shoots and red carpets by storm. A long bob is one that falls between your chin and right above your shoulders. Best thing about the lob – almost anyone can wear it. It also accentuates every face shape and isn’t restricted by the texture of your hair.

Metallic accents

This season, designers made a serious metallic statement with silvery eyes and glitzy lips at the spring 2015 fashion shows. While this look isn’t for everyone, we think there will be a lot more metallic eyeliner and mascara in the near future. If you wish to keep shining in 2015, give metallic eyes a shot for a party-perfect look.

Balayage hair

Move over, ‘ombré’! Balayage hair colour is here to stay. Balayage is French for ‘paint’. It allows for a sun-kissed natural-looking hair colour with softer, less noticeable re-growth lines. Less is more when creating a soft, natural look. The painted-on process gives hair a natural, sun-kissed look, which is why celebrities are giving it a go.

The nude face

No-makeup make-up was the biggest runway trend for spring and is set to trend this year as well. The look is all about enhancing your natural beauty by hiding dark circles and bringing out a realistic flush with minimal products. Granted, most of us may still need foundation to touch up, but a healthy natural glow is something we should all include in our 2015 beauty regimen.

Graphic eyeliner

Bored with the traditional cat eye? Jump on the graphic eyeliner bandwagon. The trend was brought to attention at the Spring 2015 Saint Laurent fashion show. With the wing open just a smidge, the iconic cat-eye look gets edgier. To achieve the look, use a stiff-pointed brush and trace the upper and lower lash lines with jet-black eyeliner liquid. Extend the lines ¼-inch past the outer corners of the eyes. Ta da, there you have it.
