Hollywood star Cameron Diaz and rocker Benji Madden got married in their Los Angeles home on Monday. Diaz, 42, and Madden, 35, had been dating since May and were engaged shortly before Christmas, reported Reuters.
“We couldn’t be happier to begin our new journey together surrounded by our closest family and friends,” the couple told the People magazine, reported Reuters. A representative for the couple said that the two were married at “an intimate ceremony at their home in Los Angeles.” Their hush-hush wedding was attended by family and close friends, including Reese Witherspoon, Drew Barrymore, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Cameron Diaz’s sister-in-law Nicole Richie and husband Joel.
Representatives for Diaz and Madden could not immediately be reached for comment. In an earlier interview with Esquire magazine, Diaz stated she was not in any rush to procreate or settle down. “I like protecting people, but I was never drawn to being a mother,” she shared. “I have it much easier than any of them (people with kids).” Her comments over the past years have many wondering the real reason behind her sudden nuptials, reported E! Online.
Diaz, a Golden Globe-nominated actor, most recently starred in the film Annie, a reworking of the Tony-winning 1977 eponymous Broadway musical. Madden is best known for performing in the rock bands Good Charlotte and The Madden Brothers with his twin brother Joel Madden.
