Hosted on Sunday at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, the 72nd annual Golden Globes brought out the finest stars in television and movie. Offering up one of the most diverse audiences of the awards season, it was quite the show. Dazzling on the red carpet, the stars sported some dapper silhouettes. Floor-loving gowns and pastel ensembles were a dominant trend but darker styles shined just as well. Here are the looks that had us talking.
Felicity Jones
Known for her regal red carpet style, Felicity did not disappoint at the red carpet. The Theory of Everything actor went for ladylike glam in a voluminous teal Christian Dior dress. The heavily pleated structured number boasted a high neck with elegant folds. Well-fitted at the waist and sprawling at the cut of the hip, the outfit did wonders at showcasing her diminutive waist. Felicity organised her make-up to compliment her blue gown and then added a coral lipstick to set it off.
Salma Hayek
Hayek stood tall in an ivory brocade bustier dress by Alexander McQueen, gripping a studded tonal clutch from the same designer. Cinched at the waist with a silver gun-metal belt, the dress accentuated all of her enviable curves. With luminescent make-up and a nude lip, the brunette beauty set her lustrous locks free in soft waves and resting on one shoulder. Feather-shaped diamond earrings by Boucheron and white roses in her hair polished up the retro ensemble. Now that’s vintage done right.
Emily Blunt
The Into The Woods actor wowed in a custom-made floor-kissing Grecian-inspired Michael Kors gown. The criss-cross bodice featured a sultry key-hole cut out that gave us a peek at her taut bod. Ravishing in blue stoned earrings and matching bracelet, the star pinned her hair neatly back and put her toned shoulders on display. Keeping her make-up simple, the star played with a toned down look that focused on her strong brows and grey eye-shadow.
Emma Stone
We knew there would be a pants moment at the Golden Globes and this year it was Emma. The Magic in the Moonlight actor ditched floor-skimming gowns in favour of a Lanvin jumpsuit. The copper-haired actor selected a formal jumpsuit, which featured a silver-sequinned top along with black trousers. The outfit also had a side stash that emitted an edgy vibe and a huge bow tied at the back added to the femininity of the ensemble. Her black suede Manolo Blahniks being her only accessory, she let her fuchsia lip do all the talking.
