Fashion Pakistan Lounge (FPL) hosted its annual spring exhibition, Best of What’s New, on April 1. This one day event featured established and upcoming names from Lahore and Karachi. As spring is in full swing in Lahore with summer not far behind, women are constantly stocking up on their summer wardrobe to gear up for the hot weather ahead.
The exhibiting designers included Sadaf Malaterre, Wardha Saleem, The Pink Tree by Mohsin Sayeed, Sana Barry, Attraction by Kamal Fabric, MBM (Maria Basit Malik), Aleem Mehta, The Clothes Company, Turquoise and Agha Noor.

Mehta exhibited chikankari from Bahawalpur; in the intense Lahori heat, nothing fares better than light cotton chikankari. Turquoise had some interesting cuts for both casual and semi-formal wear, with loose, kaftan-inspired pieces that had tight-ended sleeves. The Clothes Company showed their range of palazzos and jumpsuits in owl, snake and marble prints in greys, blacks, yellows and pastels. This quirky brand had some fun prints at very reasonable price points.
The Pink Tree had two pointed kite cuts with ajrak-inspired prints on the inside in red, green and yellow, with sheer plain white cotton on top. One had to check with the sales person to realise that this inside-out-outfit was the way it was meant to be!
At the end of the day, the exhibition had something for everyone.
