The much anticipated film Jurassic Park 4, which was scheduled to release in June next year, has been put on hold by Universal Studios. This will be the fourth installment of the Jurassic Park series, the highest grossing film franchise.
The decision was made to give “the studio and film-makers adequate time to bring audiences the best possible version” of Jurassic Park 4, said Universal Studios in a statement. Initially, the film was slated to release on June 13 next year. However, the studio has yet to announce a new date.
Director Steven Spielberg directed the first two editions of the movie and will now be taking on the role of executive producer for the fourth film, while newcomer Colin Trevorrow will be directing it.
No announcement, however, has been made regarding the cast or whether the original stars of the franchise, Jeff Goldblum and Richard Attenborough, will return.
