MUMBAI: Actor Ranveer Singh, who has been most appreciated for his roles in his films like Band Baaja Baraat and Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, is being rather experimental these days. The heartthrob is all set to star in Lootera with actor Sonakshi Sinha. The film has been set in earlier times when technology merely existed in terms of television and cellular service.
In order for Singh to fully get into his character, the actor swayed away from technology for a while.
The 27-year-old stopped watching television and using his cell phone while preparing for his forthcoming release which will be a period romance drama.
Set in the ’50s, the Vikramaditya Motwane directed film will see Singh playing an archeologist.
“It was very interesting to do a period film because a new world is created in there. I had no clue about the ’50s, so to live a character who is living in that era, was very interesting [for me],” said Singh.
“The kind of preparation I did before playing this role, was very interesting. I stopped watching television and using my cell phone,” the actor told reporters. “I became very calm — I have given a very calm performance.”
His last release was hit film Ladies vs Ricky Bahl in 2011. Singh said that he wants to end the “long wait” with Lootera.
“My film is releasing after a very long time. It has been a long wait [for me]. I have seen the film and I am very happy. I am very excited and can’t wait for people to see it,” said the actor.
The film is scheduled to release on July 5 this year.
