Actor Rose McGowan was met with an accident when she visited the New York City restaurant Bar Pitti in Greenwich Village, Manhattan. An unidentified man climbed out of a sidewalk grate and threw a red smoke bomb into the patio area, where the Charmed alumnus was dining, reported the US Weekly.
“Someone just threw two red smoke bombs into the restaurant I was eating in. Eyes are burning. #NYCWHAT,” McGowan tweeted after the incident. The suspect was wearing a baseball cap and an American flag t-shirt. He fled after creating chaos at the restaurant and remains at large, the Daily Mail reported. The police described him as a man in his thirties with blonde hair.
Although no injuries were reported, many people present at the restaurant were shaken by the event. Since its opening in 1992, Bar Pitti has catered for dozens of celebrities, including fashion designer Calvin Klein, actors Lindsay Lohan, Jim Carrey and Sofia Vergara. It has also hosted model Agyness Deyn, singer Beyoncé and actor Amanda Seyfried.
The attack has sparked concerns over the safety of the city’s subway network with one local saying: “I guess they’re going to [increase the] security.” A probe into the incident is in process.
